During the past two days, the NZFW schedule was jam-packed. Of course I'm still beside myself that I couldn't be there to watch them all in person, Ive been keeping a good eye on whats been happening! Some big names have shown-SGC, Federation, Twenty-seven names, Huffer, along side heaps of talented up-and-comers. Here are (SOME-This post would take 10 years to read otherwise) of my favourite looks from days 3 & 4 of New Zealand Fashion Week 2016.
The Hailwood collection was STUNNING. Super elegant, and feminine with some chokers in the mix (YES). I am obsessed with a mirrored, sparkly swing-type dress (Below, left) from the collection-I don't think i would ever take it off! The show had a live orchestra (and the flautist in me was screaming) which was gorgeous and the overall vibe of the line is right up my alley. A Summary :Soft and muted colour palette, some plaid and velvet thrown in, relaxed tailoring and some striking reflective textures.
Who knew federation made anything other that tees with their own branding all over them-and that they could do it well! (DAMN ALEX thats harsh..) Honestly, i had multiple pre-concieved ideas about what this collection would be like-but they were all proved wrong. This is streetwear done well. Very well. Birds Versus Bees is very spring-y, full of pastels and playful prints and textures.
Here are some Mis-matched looks from multiple collections that I loved. There are way too many designers and looks to mention, but here are a few! I particularly love the penny sage dress with the sheer neckline-neeeeed. It's been super hard to keep up with all the designers shows this year-there is so many talented emerging designers in New Zealand at the moment, exciting stuff!
The highly anticipated Stolen Girlfriends Club show was on night three. First of all can we please talk about the collection title-it's awesome. The actual show itself (watch viva's highlights here) was on two levels this year, so wherever you sat you got a bit of a different perspective of it. It was the typical stolen girlfriends show-some good beats (listen to them here), a lot of stomping and some cool clothes. All of the looks were very 'lived in' and looked like the girls had just chucked them on of the floor-but it they looked SOOOO good. The effortless collection features heaps of plaid, heaps of leather and heaps of spunk. I don't think there is ever a SGC show at fashion week that is a flop-go Marc! Now I just need to find out how to look like a supermodel in a hoody and jeans...
